Bring It Home Rental Assistance Program
Program Information
The Bring It Home Rental Assistance Program, also referred to as “Bring It Home”, is a new program to create rental assistance for low-income families across Minnesota. The program provides tenant- and/or project-based rental assistance for income-eligible households. Priority for rental assistance is given to households earning under 30% AMI that include children.
Household Eligibility
Households are eligible to apply for the Bring It Home Rental Assistance Program if they:
- Are a Minnesota resident;
- Have an annual income of up to 50% of the area median income as determined by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), adjusted for family size;
- Pay more than 30% of the household's annual income on rent;
- Are not receiving federal tenant-based assistance under Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended; and
- Are not currently in a unit receiving project-based assistance under Section 8 of the United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended.
Important Information
- Priority is given to households earning under 30% of the area median income and who have children under the age of 18.
- The BIH program is not portable. In other words, your BIH rental assistance does not transfer to another housing authority for continued assistance.

The waiting list is currently open and applications are being accepted. Please note: A local preference is given to applicants who currently live, work, or have been hired to work, in Itasca County. You will be required to verify the preference when your name approaches the top of the list.
